Cottage - West Sussex, UK

This tiny cottage in the West Sussex countryside was converted from an existing outbuilding. Because of its size, it was important to keep to a limited colour palette that would still allow for interesting connections between the rooms. Working with warm greens and yellows, we painted the panelled hallway and the kitchen cabinets in a similar green, and introduced warm yellow ochres in the sofa cushions. These patterned yellows then created the palette for the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Throughout, we made the best use of the floorplan through compact furniture layouts, and produced custom pieces to work with the scale of the rooms. High quality materials were used to ensure a sense of comfort and luxury, while maintaining the cottage’s informality.
